      If you’re starting & looking for experience/people to recommend you, I would focus on small jobs (website for a local business/friends etc) &/or open source. You’ll have a portfolio of work you’ve done, & even if you’re not making anything from open source, you’re in control. 2/3

    As unbalanced as OSS is (in terms of who has time/access to contributing & who benefits), it’s undeniable having your code out there & people having seen/using your projects is advantageous, at any stage of your career. 3/3
